Rwanda's ICT professionals strengthen leadership and team building skills through training program
From 1st November to 6th December 2024, a group of 70 IT professionals from various public institutions across Rwanda are participating in an impactful Leadership Development Program and Team Building training course. The 6-week training was organised by Rwanda Information Society Authority (RISA) in partnership with the Ministry of Information Communication Technology and Innovation (MINICT), JICA and KORA Coaching &Business Academy.
As part of Rwanda’s continued efforts to advance its digital transformation, this training programme is designed to nurture leadership skills and foster teamwork among ICT professionals working in public institutions. The goal is to empower participants with the necessary tools to lead teams effectively, solve problems creatively, and build cohesive work environments that drives innovation.
The course covers key areas such as leadership principles, team building, conflict resolution, communication skills, leadership development…ensuring that participants are well-prepared to tackle the challenges of modern-day leadership in the fast-evolving ICT sector. These skills are critical to ensuring that the country’s digital transformation goals are met, as effective leadership and strong teamwork are essential for successfully implementing technology-driven initiatives across public institutions.
This programme is being supported by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) as part of the Digital & Innovation Promotion Project. JICA’s contribution highlights the importance of international collaboration in building capacity and promoting knowledge sharing, essential elements in fostering Rwanda’s growing digital economy. With JICA’s support, the training programme aims to enhance Rwanda’s ICT capacity, ensuring that the workforce has the leadership skills necessary to drive national development through innovation and technology.

The Leadership & Team Building training is being delivered by Kora Coaching and Business Academy, an institution renowned for its coaching expertise. The academy’s approach combines theoretical knowledge with practical leadership and team building techniques, ensuring that participants gain actionable skills that they can apply in their respective roles. Throughout the course, participants are learning how to lead dynamic and diverse teams with confidence, communicate effectively, and navigate the complexities of managing teams in technology-driven environments. The training also focuses on personal development, encouraging participants to embrace resilience and adapt to the challenges of the modern workplace.
The Leadership and Team Building training is one of the many initiatives aimed at building a highly skilled and motivated workforce that will lead Rwanda’s digital transformation. Through this and other training efforts, Rwanda is preparing its ICT professionals to meet the challenges of the future, ensuring that the country remains at the forefront of digital progress on the continent.
