RISA staff trained on fire safety & emergency preparedness

On Thursday, 13 August 2026, RISA staff participated in a capacity-building training on fire safety and security, aimed at strengthening their knowledge and practical skills in fire prevention, firefighting and emergency response, both at the workplace and at home.

The training was facilitated by the Ministry of Interior (MININTER) in collaboration with the Rwanda National Police (RNP) and the Ministry in charge of Emergency Management (MINEMA), as part of a broader Government initiative to equip public servants with the knowledge and skills required to prevent and respond effectively to fire emergencies.

During the session, participants were introduced to the different phases and classes of fire, as well as appropriate firefighting methods and the proper use of fire extinguishers. The training also covered practical fire prevention measures both at the workplace and at home, including the use of smoke alarms and gas-leak detectors, safe LPG handling, proper ventilation, electrical safety and safe cooking practices.

Speaking on behalf of RISA, the Chief Operations and Strategy Officer thanked the organising team for conducting the training and equipping staff with essential knowledge and practical skills to respond to fire emergencies. He called upon staff to remain vigilant and observe safety measures at all times, both at work and at home, noting that fire prevention and emergency preparedness are a shared responsibility.
