RISA, NCSA & BSC equip 120 Public Sector IT staff with cybersecurity & networking skills
In a joint effort to reinforce Rwanda’s cybersecurity readiness and strengthen institutional IT capacities, the Rwanda Information Society Authority (RISA), in collaboration with the National Cybersecurity Authority (NCSA) and the Broadcast Solutions Centre (BSC), successfully delivered a one-week capacity building training program targeting public sector IT personnel.
The training, conducted in two batches from 5 – 9 May and 12–16 May 2025, brought together approximately 120 IT staff from various government institutions. This initiative is part of an ongoing effort to ensure that Rwanda’s public sector workforce is well-prepared to respond to evolving cybersecurity threats and manage increasingly complex digital infrastructures.
The program was officially opened by the Government Chief Innovation Officer, who emphasized the critical importance of continuous professional development in safeguarding the Government of Rwanda’s digital infrastructure. He highlighted that as technology evolves, so must the skills and awareness of those managing and protecting national systems.
The training focused primarily on network management and cybersecurity, beginning with a comprehensive assessment of each participant’s institutional IT infrastructure. This approach allowed the program to tailor insights and strategies to the specific needs and vulnerabilities of each institution.
Participants gained deeper understanding of cyber risk awareness, threat detection, and incident response planning. The sessions aimed to not only raise awareness of the growing cybersecurity challenges but also to build technical capacity for maintaining a secure, resilient digital environment across government agencies.
Through this collaborative initiative, RISA and its partners continue to play a pivotal role in strengthening Rwanda’s digital resilience and supporting national efforts to build a trusted and secure public digital ecosystem.
