RISA CEO encourage Digital Ambassadors to uphold civic values

During the civic education program (Itorero) held in May 2025 at the National Ubutore Development Center, Nkumba, the CEO of the Rwanda Information Society Authority (RISA) addressed the fourth and fifth cohorts of Digital Ambassadors, delivering a powerful message on leadership, civic responsibility, and personal growth.

“These are the basic principles of leadership, performance, and social conduct that you’ve been taught. Do not take them for granted. Summarize what you’ve learned, keep it safe, and revisit it after two years, you’ll realize how fortunate you were to receive this training,” he said.

The CEO reminded Digital Ambassadors that the government believes in their potential and is investing in them as future leaders across all sectors. He called on them to lead with integrity, purpose, and a strong sense of civic duty.

Also speaking at the event was the representative from the Ministry of National Unity and Civic Engagement, Mr. Gasana Pascal. He drew inspiration from a song by Rugamba Cyprien, which emphasizes that good culture helps individuals move forward without losing their identity, by adopting what is good and discarding what is harmful.

“You are fortunate that the government trusts you. Remember, you are the leaders of tomorrow in all institutions,” Gasana stated.

As part of their community service, the Digital Ambassadors contributed to the development of Kinoni Sector by:

  • Paying health insurance for 100 vulnerable citizens

  • Donating 20 smartphones to local village leaders

  • Donating an 80-liter water heater to NUDC center

These actions reflect their commitment to the values taught during Itorero and their readiness to serve and lead responsibly within their communities.
