RISA and MINICT mark Labour Day with recognition & renewed commitment to excellence
On June 30, 2025, the Rwanda Information Society Authority (RISA) celebrated International Labour Day 2025 jointly with the Ministry of ICT and Innovation (MINICT). The event took place at the Ministry’s headquarters and was marked by a series of engaging and reflective activities.
Key highlights of the celebration included motivational messages from institutional leaders; Honorable Minister of ICT and Innovation and the CEO of RISA, a lecture on work ethics by Human resource staff, games and entertainment, and the awarding of the best performing employee of the year 2024/2025.
Speaking at the event, RISA CEO Mr. Innocent B. Muhizi expressed his gratitude to the leadership in the ICT sector. He acknowledged the tireless efforts of IT professionals, calling them “unseen heroes” who work behind the scenes to keep systems running. He compared their role to football defenders, who are only noticed when they score, yet constantly preventing unseen challenges behind the scenes. Mr. Muhizi emphasized mutual responsibility between leaders and staff, urging employees to carry out their duties diligently and assuring them that leadership also has a responsibility to support them.
Hon. Minister Paula Ingabire thanked all staff for their contributions to the progress of Rwanda’s ICT sector. She reminded them that while much has been achieved, the journey ahead is still long and requires sustained commitment. She concluded by wishing everyone a Happy Labour Day and a Happy Liberation Day.
The event concluded with the recognition of Mr. IRAMBONA Ezechias, the Digital Literacy Training Officer from the Digital Cluster Coordination and Community Development Division at RISA. He was awarded a certificate of appreciation as the Best-Performing Employee for the year 2024/2025.
