Network and Cybersecurity Training to Enhance Connectivity and Service Delivery in public institutions

From Monday, 16th December, to Friday, 20th December 2024, the Rwanda Information Society Authority (RISA), in collaboration with the National Cyber Security Authority (NCSA), and BSC Rwanda is holding a five-day training on Network and Cybersecurity for IT personnel from Districts, Provinces and other local government entities. The training aims to strengthen their skills in managing and configuring firewalls, ensuring proactive monitoring, and enhancing threat response capabilities.

Participants will be equipped with skills to detect and respond to potential security threats as early as possible, thereby reducing the risk of incidents. Additionally, the programme will raise awareness of best practices in cybersecurity and data protection to ensure compliance with relevant regulations and safeguard sensitive information.

The objectives of the training are to enhance both foundational and advanced knowledge in network management and cybersecurity, to equip IT personnel with practical skills in firewall management, troubleshooting, incident response, and data protection compliance, as well as to raise awareness of cybersecurity risks and responses, including digital forensics.

While opening the training, the Government Chief Innovation Officer, Mr. Antoine Sebera, urged participants to continuously update their knowledge, emphasising that the ICT field is highly dynamic and requires practitioners to stay informed through regular learning. He encouraged them to take the training seriously, as it is designed to help improve service delivery in their respective institutions.

Mr Sebera assured participants that the training is tailored to address the frequent challenges they encounter in their daily work and called on them to return to their roles equipped with practical solutions. He also commended the collaboration between RISA and its partners, the National Cybersecurity Authority and BSC, in organizing and implementing this activity.
