Inspiring future innovators: Hope Haven students explore Rwanda’s Digital Transformation at RISA

On 6 March 2026, the Rwanda Information Society Authority (RISA) welcomed students from Hope Haven Christian School for an educational visit aimed at deepening their understanding of ICT governance and Rwanda’s ongoing digital transformation journey.

The students were received by RISA’s Chief Operations and Strategy Officer, who provided an overview of the institution’s mandate and its central role in driving Rwanda’s digital agenda. The session offered students a unique opportunity to engage directly with experts and gain insight into how national digital systems are designed, implemented, and governed.

During the visit, students were introduced to key national initiatives, including the Smart Digital Identity System (SDID) and the Digital Ambassadors Programme, both of which are instrumental in advancing inclusive access to digital services across the country. These initiatives highlighted how Rwanda is leveraging technology to ensure that no citizen is left behind in the digital age.

The visit also featured interactive engagements with different divisions within RISA, including the Infrastructure Division, Digital literacy and Software development. Through these sessions, students explored how foundational digital infrastructure supports public service delivery, enhances connectivity, and enables innovation across sectors.

By connecting classroom learning with real-world applications, the visit inspired students to consider future careers in ICT and innovation. It also reinforced the importance of youth engagement in shaping Rwanda’s digital future. RISA remains committed to fostering awareness and building capacity among young people, recognising them as key contributors to a resilient, inclusive, and forward-looking digital economy.
