This Thursday June, 13th 2024, Chief Digital Officers were gathered to celebrate their impact across various sectors in accelerating Rwanda’s digital transformation. The event brought together representatives from the Ministry of ICT and Innovation, Rwanda Information Society Authority, Agence Française de Développement, Expertise France, other partners and all CDOs.

Since 2021, Chief Digital Officers have been appointed within the administration and under the coordination of the Rwanda Information Society Authority (RISA) with the mission to accelerate Rwanda’s digital transformation in all sectors. Thanks to several cooperation initiatives, CDOs gained capacities and impact throughout their perimeter of intervention. In order to celebrate this progress, a showcase event was organized in collaboration with the Agence Française de Développement and Expertise France.

Closing event for the FEXTE (Fund for Technical Expertise and Experience Transfers) project entitled Empowering CDOs to accelerate Rwanda’s digital transformation aimed at:

• Offering a complete retrospective of the FEXTE project and celebrating the France-Rwanda cooperation;
• Showcasing key deliverables and their applications for Rwanda’s digital transformation journey;
• Opening up the conversation in new perspectives & challenges for Rwanda digital transformation.

The purpose of FEXTE project was to strengthen the horizontal steering capacity of the digital transformation of the administration, through the network of Chief Digital Officers (CDOs) and had 2 phases whereby the first one took place in 2022 after the appointment of CDOs and the second started in 2023 to evaluate their impact.
